Hello! I'm Kali, and my passion is Pilates!
I’m also a comprehensive Nationally Certified Pilates instructor! I specialize in Mat, Reformer, Cadillac, Wunda Chair, Ladder Barrel and small equipment.
As a classical ballet dancer and dance instructor, my profound understanding of body movement and body mechanics has played a vital role in my life and my teaching. At Salem Street Pilates, you’ll experience Pilates in a warm and welcoming environment. My studio is geared toward small, intimate classes with a hands-on approach. I believe Pilates is for everyone, and I keep that in mind when it comes to tailoring my teaching to individual clients. It's my goal that everyone who comes to my studio leaves with a stronger understanding of not only their health and wellness, but also of themselves!
Why Pilates?
Pilates is one of the best, most effective ways to build strength while also training mobility. Instead of isolating muscles like resistance training, it improves core stability, posture, balance, and coordination. Over time, this translates into better, more functional movement in everyday life. Also reduced risk of injury, and relief from common issues like back pain or tight hips! Because Pilates emphasizes controlled, low-impact movements and proper alignment, it's very beginner-friendly while still being challenging enough for experienced clients.
Another huge benefit of Pilates is developing a better mind-muscle connection. Each movement is intentional, with a focus on breathing, control, and precision. This improves physical results while helping to reduce stress and increase body awareness. Many people find that consistent Pilates practice leaves them feeling stronger, more energized, and more in tune with how their body moves and feels day-to-day.
Are there different types of Pilates?
While there are different movements and equipment, all Pilates has the same goal.
But different methods and equipment also allow for a highly customized experience! Mat Pilates uses your own body weight to build foundational strength and control, making it a great starting point for beginners. The Reformer adds adjustable resistance through springs, which helps deepen muscle engagement while supporting proper form (great for both beginners and people with more experience). The Wunda Chair challenges balance and stability in a compact setup, targeting smaller muscle groups and improving functional strength. Meanwhile, the Cadillac offers a wide range of assisted and resistance-based exercises, making it especially useful for rehab, stretching, and muscle activation.
Together, the equipment and techniques that we use at Salem Street Pilates create a well-rounded system that we personalize to suit your fitness goals. Whether someone is recovering from an injury, looking to build strength, or simply wanting to move and feel better, Salem Street Pilates provides a structured yet adaptable approach that will help you strengthen your practice.
